Reginald Atkinson
ATKINSON, Reginald Francis “Reg” – 84, Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro, formerly of Dartmouth, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 30, 2013, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born July 21, 1929, in Truro, he was a son of the late Cleveland and Bertha (DeCoste) Atkinson. Reg was a painter for many years, loved to fish and enjoyed woodworking. Reg is survived by his daughters, Mary Atkinson, Shubenacadie; Amanda (Scott) Flynn, Clarksville; grandchildren, Justin Atkinson, Halifax; Gracie Flynn, Lily Flynn, Clarksville; sister, Eldora Lynds, Brookfield; brothers, Francis (Pam) Atkinson, Bible Hill; Hughie Atkinson, Murray Siding; several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Cecil Atkinson; long-time friend, Jeanette Campbell. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Reg’s family will receive friends from 1-1:45 p.m., Friday, August 2, 2013, followed by the funeral service at 2 p.m., Reverend Dr. Frank Guinta Jr. officiating. Reception will follow. Interment in Harmony Cemetery. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Reg’s memory to Canadian Diabetes Association are welcomed.
