John Franklyn Hines, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013, after a long and
brave battle with cancer.
He was born to the late C. Franklyn and Helen (Barron) Hines, Ingonish, N.S. John was married for 52 years to his wife, Edna 'Babes' (Mulvihill) Hines.
John was extremely loving and proud of his three children, Derrick Hines

(Margie), Sydney. He will be sorrowfully missed by his six
grandchildren, Jesse, Ben and Sam Abbass, Halifax, Tomasz, Mitchell
and Elizabeth Hines, Dartmouth, as well as his many nieces and nephews
and in-laws.
John was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. He was always quick to laugh and even faster to show his love and support. John was always there to help friends and family with building projects or whatever else was needed. His smile will be remembered forever in our hearts.
John was a 4th-degree member of the Knights of Columbus for many years. He loved life over the years spending time on the Mira River with his family and friends. He was a proud business owner of John F. Hines Welding employing several local people on Mitchell Street, Sydney. He loved dealing with people and could not go anywhere without knowing a friendly face.
Over the years John and Edna enjoyed travelling to such places as Ireland, Mexico, California, New Hampshire, New York and of course Maine, where John and Edna lived for several years when they were first married. Later in life, they would drive around Cape Breton for an ice cream and enjoyed stopping at the Cedar House.
A very special thank you to the staff at McGillivary Guest Home for all their loving care and support, they truly made a difference.
