Gladys Ann Stevens (Bernard), 80, Eskasoni passed away after a short illness on Tuesday July 30, 2013 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, surrounded by her family.
Born in Truro, N.S., she was the daughter of the late John Bernard and Freda Sack.
She was a devoted member of the St. Ann's Mission and enjoyed playing bingo and cards. Married to the late Daniel J. Stevens for 50 years, her late husband was a veteran of the Korean war.
She is survived by her daughter, Theresa and two sons, Tommy and John Michael, all of Eskasoni. Also grandchildren, David Paul, Waycobah, Daniel Sylliboy of Eskasoni; great-grandchildren, David Jr., Hanna, Scotty, all of Waycobah.
She was predeceased by son, Daniel Jr.; two sons in infancy and three daughters, Donna Rose, Linda Jane and Anna Marie; sister, Diane Bernard; four brothers, Bill, John, Marty and Doug, all of Indian Brook.
Visitation for the late Gladys Ann Stevens will take place on Sunday, Aug. 4 at her home at 4258 Shore Rd., Eskasoni at 7 p.m. A funeral mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Rev. Martin MacDougall officiating. Interment in the parish cemetery.
