Merle Dodsworth

It is with deep sadness that we must announce the passing of Merle Dodsworth, age 84, of Belfast, P.E.I., formerly of Millis, Massachusetts. Merle passed away peacefully at the John Gillis Lodge in Belfast on Wednesday, July 31, 2013.
Born in Athol, N.S., he was a son of the late Joseph E. and Edith E. (Dow) Dodsworth. Merle was born and brought up in Athol, he moved to Massachusetts at the age of 30 where he met his wife and they raised their 2 children. He was an avid gardener and took great pride in the care of his home and property. He had a special love of tractors. He retired to Belfast in 1992 where he enjoyed tooling around with his brother Lester.
He will be dearly missed by his daughter, Jerrilyn (David) Rinaldi, North Reading, Mass; son, David (Jane), Maui, Hawaii; 4 grandchildren, Adam, Samuel, Zachary and Nicholas; great-grandchild, Trinity; brothers, Foster (Frances), Ottawa; Joseph, Rothesay, N.B.; Robert (Lorna), Brampton, ON; and Lester (Anna), Belfast, P.E.I.; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Colene Kachianes; brothers, Arnold and Earl; and sisters, Marion Stobbs, Dorothy Pilon, Edna Gilbert and June Rose.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Furlong~Jones Funeral Home where visitation will take place on Saturday, August 3, 2013 from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. The funeral will take place on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, Rev. Wayne McCarther officiating. All are invited to stay at the funeral home for a time of refreshment and fellowship followed by the committal service in the Athol Cemetery.
