
Léonise Langis
LANGIS, LÉONISE - 1916-2013 - We, her loving family, are sad to announce the peaceful passing of our mother, Léonise Langis, which occurred on August 2, 2013, at the age of 96 at the Villa Providence, Shediac. She was formerly of Moncton. Born in Grande-Digue, NB, on December 31, 1916, she was the daughter of the late Napoléon and Mélina (Cormier) Bourgeois. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a member of the first graduating class of the École Normale in Fredericton in 1932. She began teaching at the age of 16 at Bourgeois Office where her own mother had taught as a young girl. She later pursued her career in Colette, near Bouctouche, until she married in 1940 and devoted the following years raising her eight children. She is survived by five daughters and two sons: Nicole (Paul Gallant), Dieppe, Marcelle (Francis Boudreau), Moncton, Dianne (Bernard Caissie), Gatineau, Monette (Kim Arnold), British Columbia, Rolande (Léo-Paul Drisdelle), Moncton, Rodrigue (Stella-Maris LeBlanc), Moncton and Alvin (Sharon O'Neill), Saint John; daughter-in-law, Lise (late Claude Langis); her 19 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Jean-Robert Langis in 2002; her eldest son, Claude in 2000; an infant son, Joseph; and her 6 sisters: Viola, Aline, Lucia, Marguerite, Anita and Jeanne; and her two brothers, Yvon and Alderic.
Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB (857-1901) on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm ONLY. Funeral mass will be celebrated from Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church, Moncton, NB, on Thursday, August 8, 2013 at 11:00 am. Interment in Notre-Dame-du-Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB.
