It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Beth Denise (Porter) McKay on Tuesday August 6th, 2013 at her home in Fort McMurray, AB, formerly of Brooklyn, NS. Beth was born November 5th, 1960, to Olive (Ollie) Porter (Cochrane) of Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, NS and the late Everett Porter of Falmouth, NS. She is survived by her loving husband Raymond Donald McKay and their three children; Denise (Josh) of Fort McMurray AB, Lee-Ann (Maxime) of Montreal QC, and Joseph (Meghan) of Edmonton AB; Dany who she considered as her first grandchild; Brother: David (Heather) Porter of Newport NS; Sisters: Nancy (Hally) MacDonnell of Hants Border, and Anne Barker (Doug Patterson) of Hantsport; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Everett Porter (2000) and sister, Elizabeth in infancy (1957). Beth’s passion was interacting with people, she especially enjoyed customer service and many of her co-workers and customers became her good friends. She was a volunteer Fire Fighter and an Auxiliary volunteer in Brooklyn. She enjoyed her trips South during the winter months and was always willing to karaoke a Janice Joplin tune. Beth was a second mother to many, and a very special friend to all. Visitation was held Sunday August 11th from 7 to 9 pm, in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King Street, Windsor. Funeral service was held 2pm Monday, August 12, 2013 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Craig Faulkner officiated. A private family interment was held. A reception was held in the Brooklyn Civic Centre, Brooklyn In lieu of flowers, donations in Beth’s memory were requested to be made to the Dalhousie Medical Research Foundation.
