GEORGE KETSA
July 8, 1936 - August 7, 2013
George Ketsa passed away peacefully at the age of 77, in his chair at home on August 7, 2013.
George was born in Spedden, Alberta. He attended school in Smoky Lake, moving to BC in 1956 with his parents and siblings. A hard worker with an amazing attention to detail, George retired in 1991 after over 23 years of dedicated service at Balco (Tolko) as a veneer plant supervisor. A very knowledgeable sports enthusiast, he had many hobbies including fishing, camping, snowmobiling, gardening and being Mr. Fix-it for anyone in need of a hand.
George's true passion was his family and with his passion he touched many lives and will be sadly missed by his loving wife Leona of 51 years and his two buddies Bear and Lucky. Leaving behind daughter Angie Lovell (Mark Bond) and grandchildren Elana, Carlie and Keegan Lovell, and sisters Irene (Tom) Anderson and Pearl (Ruben) Akre, nieces Valerie (Steve) Lemiere, Elaine Grevinitis, Lori (Mike) Sorba, and nephew Ken (Cheryl) Ketsa and families, sisters-in-law Florence and Irene, special friends Mary Makowichuk, Cheryl Feller, and Donna Houston and long-time neighbours Brenda and Keith Chambers (& family), and many more snowmobile and camping friends and families.
George was predeceased by parents Metro and Mary Ketsa, brothers Steve and Mike, and niece Esther Ketsa (Shawn).
A Celebration of George's life will be held in the Schoening Funeral Chapel on Thursday, August 15, 2013 at 10:30 a.m., with a reception to follow.
Donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice in memory of George would be appreciated.
God looked around His garden
And found an empty space;
He then looked down upon this earth
And saw your tired face.
He put His arms around you
And lifted you to rest;
God's garden must be beautiful,
He only takes the best.
He knew that you were suffering,
He knew you were in pain
He knew you might never
Get well upon this earth again.
He saw the road was getting rough
And the hills were hard to climb
So He closed your weary eyelids
And whispered, "Peace be thine."
It broke our hearts to lose you
But you never went alone.
For part of us went with you
The day God called you home.
