It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Hazel MacDougall, 79, of Glace Bay. Hazel passed away on Friday, Aug. 9, 2013, at the Glace Bay Hospital.
Born in Glace Bay, Hazel was the daughter of the late Harry and Henrietta (Martin) Mitchell.
Hazel was content to stay at home raising her family and being a homemaker. She loved her family and was happy to have them around her.
She will be sadly missed by her loving daughters, Shirley (Kevin) Rutter, Oromocto, N.B., Linda MacDougall; sons, Michael and Sheldon, all of Glace Bay; sisters, Shirley White, Glace Bay, Lila Reid, Petawawa, Ont.; brothers, Sheldon (Marilyn McInnis) Mitchell, Reserve Mines, Harry (Annie Smith) Mitchell, Glace Bay. Also surviving are cherished grandchildren, Matthew and Christopher Moore, Shellyse, Chevon MacDougall, Billy Nicholson, Barbara Wilison, Veronique MacDougall, Erica Edwards and three great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Hazel was predeceased by her husband, Michael, son, Watson Mitchell, stepmother, Lila, sisters, Etta and Doreen.
In honoring Hazel’s wishes, her visitation and funeral are private. Interment will be held at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens with her husband, Michael.
Funeral arrangements are under the care and guidance of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay.
