MacAloney, Sophia – 91, of Parrsboro passed away Friday, August 9, 2013 at South Cumberland Community Care Centre, Parrsboro. Born in Utrecht, Holland, she was a daughter of the late Jan and A.A. Bertha (van de Burg) Voortwijs. She is survived by a daughter, Bertha Harrison (Gary), Parrsboro; a sister, Bertha “Bep” Janna, Holland; a brother, Jan Voortwijs (Celina), Holland; grandchildren, David Harrison (Jennifer), Parrsboro; Craig Harrison (Kim), Parrsboro; great grandchildren, Avery, Ella, Haley, Will and Josh. She was predeceased by her husband, Theodore in 2004; a brother, Hank. Visitation 6-8 p.m. on Monday [August 12, 2013] at Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro, where funeral service will be held 2 p.m. on Tuesday [August 13, 2013], Keith Selwyn-Smith, D.L.M. and Rev. Greg Doyle officiating. Burial in the Parrsboro United Cemetery. Reception to follow in the lower level of Parrsboro United Church.
