Robert William “Bobby” Brown - 78, of Aylesford, Kings County, passed away Wednesday, August 14, 2013 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre - VG Site, Halifax. Born on December 3, 1934 in The Forties, he was a son of the late Austin and Roxie (Veno) Brown. He left Nova Scotia at an early age to seek work in Ontario. He was employed at Nortel for over 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed working the land and was also a part-time farmer during his working life. When he returned to Nova Scotia, he enjoyed working in the garden and helped Jennie’s brother, Dick on his farm as well as helping friends and neighbours. He always joked with family and friends and enjoyed a game of cards. His children were very special to him and he especially enjoyed their visits and calls. He is survived by his best friend and partner of nine years, Jennie Trask; his daughter, Sheryl (Rob Edward) Brown, Guelph, Ontario; three sons, Miles Brown, and his daughter, Kora Brown, Fergus, Ontario; Darren Brown, Arthur, Ontario; Cameron Brown, Grand Valley, Ontario; step-daughter, Nancy (Bryan Palmer) Woodworth; step-granddaughter, Carrie (Jevon) Arnold; step-grandson, Ryan (Tiffany) Woodworth; step-great grandchildren, Carly, Ella and Ethan; four sisters, Lois Lewis, Dempsey’s Corner; Nina Moody, Berwick; Shirley (Ashton) Reeves, The Forties; Beatie (Carl Mosher) Reeves, The Forties; two brothers, Donald (Shirley), Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Charles (Elsie), Uxbridge, Ontario; a sister-in-law, Arlene Brown, Meadowvale; a brother-in-law, Oran Reeves, New Ross; nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by an infant daughter; a sister, Ella Reeves; five brothers, Harley, Clifford, Fayne, Leith and Dale; six sisters-in-law, Annie Brown, Marian Brown, Frances Brown, Betty Brown, Valerie Brown and Verna Brown; three brothers-in-law, Lloyd Lewis, Jim Moody and Calvin Reeves. Cremation has taken place. There was no visitation, by request. A memorial service, followed by a reception, was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013 in The Forties Community Centre, Reverend David Hine officiating. Burial took place in the United Baptist Church Cemetery, The Forties. Donations in memory may be made to the United Baptist Church Cemetery, The Forties or the Canadian Cancer Society.
