Elsie Ferguson
FERGUSON, Elsie Alberta – 83. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elsie Alberta Ferguson of Lyons Brook on August 17, 2013, surrounded by her family. Born in Scotch Hill, she was a daughter of the late Bert & Harriet (Getson) MacDonald. Elsie is survived by son, Graham (Jean); daughters, Jacqueline (Colin) MacPhee; Helen (Clinton) MacKeil; Robin Ferguson; and Beverly (Daniel) Sheehan; 10 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren. She is also survived by sisters, Doris (Charlie) Jones, Connie Morrison; Jennie (Donald) McInnes; brothers, Herbie (Muriel) MacDonald; Vincent (Joan) Heighton; brother-in-law, Lowell (Jean) Ferguson; and many nieces and nephews. Elsie worked her entire life at various jobs, retiring from the Shiretown Nursing Home after 15 years of service. She was a member of Lyons Brook United Church, Princess Rebekah Lodge, No. 4, Pictou and was a long-time volunteer at the Northumberland Veterans Wing. Elsie contributed tirelessly to her community and church for over 60 years. She enjoyed spending time with her family, bowling, playing cards, quilting, sewing and knitting. She took great pride and pleasure in her flowers. Elsie was predeceased by her husband Arthur. Visitation will take place 2-4 & 7-9 PM Tuesday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday from Lyons Brook United Church, with Michael Simmons officiating. A reception will follow in the church hall. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Princess Rebekah Lodge, No. 4, Pictou, will meet at the funeral home at 6:45 on Tuesday to conduct their service.
