SWEETING, R. Gordon Feb.5th, 1949 to Feb. 16th, 2013 Gordon passed away at his home in Fort Steele, B.C. on Saturday, February 16th, at the age of 64 years, following a long and courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis. Gordon was born in Gull Lake, Sask., Gord is survived by his loving wife, Fern, of 34 years; Sons Trenton and Daniel; parents Art and Lorraine Sweeting of Gull Lake; and brother, David (Marilyn) of Calgary, Alta. He was predeceased by his sister, Trudy. Gord took his schooling in Gull Lake, and was with the Armed Forces for a few years. Following this he secured a position as a radio technician with the RCMP, as a civilian member. He was posted at Prince Rupert; Terrace; and Cranbrook, B.C. He served in this capacity for over 20 years. Some of his interests over the years were: Boy Scouts; Search & Rescue; taking and developing his own pictures; woodwork; hiking; skiing; camping; fishing; canoeing; hunting; shooting; motorcycling; spending time with his family and of course his career as radio technician. In 1995, due to the progress nature of the M.S. he accepted a medical discharge from his work, which was very frustrating for him. Gord had a hilarious sense of humor and warm bright smile, and will always be remembered by those around him. A “Celebration of Life” was held at the Cranbrook Alliance Church, on Saturday, March 9th at 1.30 P.M.
