Peacefully at the Western Hospital, Alberton, on Friday, Aug. 23, 2013, of Melvina Mary Peters, beloved wife of Edgar J. Peters of the Tignish Seniors Co-op Home, age 96 years. Born at Skinners Pond, on July 6, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Beatrice M. (nee Gallant) Arsenault. Dear mother to Frank of Tignish. Loving grandmother to Michael (Melissa) Peters of Northwest Territories, great-grandmother to Kai and Kalem. Dear sister to Howard Arsenault of Dartmouth, LeRoy of Skinners Pond and Sylvia Arsenault of Rumford, Maine. She was predeceased by sisters and brothers, Irene, Emily, Jerry and Ernest. Melvina was the last surviving charter member of the Tignish Ladies Auxiliary and all branches (Legion and auxiliaries) are welcome to attend a service of remembrance at the funeral home Tuesday evening at 6:45 by the Ladies Auxiliary and the Tignish Council of the CWL. The auxiliary will also form an honour guard Wednesday morning at the church. Resting at the Rooney Funeral Home, Alberton. Visiting hours Tuesday, Aug. 27, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral on Wednesday morning, Aug. 28, from St. Simon and St. Jude Church, Tignish, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m., Rev. Brendon Gallant, celebrant. Interment in the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy memorials to the Parish Cemetery Fund would gratefully appreciated.
