Trenton - Gordon Allen Forward, age 78, of Trenton, passed away Friday, August 30, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital. Born October 3, 1934, he was a son of the late Dawe and Laura Margaret (Russell) Forward. He served for 9 years in the Canadian Army Signal Corps, in Germany and several bases in Eastern Canada. He was employed at Trenton Works for 26 years, partly as head of Quality Control, travelling in Indonesia and many African countries. He worked 5 years with a partner, Ron Woollam, in a consulting business. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marion (MacPhee) Forward; sons: Allen, wife Colleen, children Nicholas and Kathleen; Ron, wife Lori, children Emily and Julia; daughter-in-law: April Forward and grandson Alex; sisters: Lyda Reynolds; Jean Forrest; Donna (Raymond) Fitzgerald; Marilyn (David) Croke; brothers: Arthur; George and Victor (Sharon) Forward; brother-in-law: Bob (Ardella) MacPhee; sisters-in-law: Nancy MacDonald and Ruth Murray; special friends: Albert “Bud” Allen and Barry Murray. He was predeceased by his parents; son Jason Forward; in-laws: Edwin and Blanche (Finley) MacPhee; sisters: Doris (Victor) MacDonald; Aileen (Fraser) MacPherson; brother: Charles (Ethel) Forward; sister-in-law: Dorothy Forward; brothers-in-law: George Reynolds; Ian Forrest; Scott Polley; James MacDonald and Ron Cameron. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 pm Tuesday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, Trenton. Funeral service 11 am Wednesday in First United Church, Trenton, with Rev. Dr. Ken MacLeod officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Aberdeen Palliative Care Unit, First United Church, Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
