Marion Hazel Leask
Leask, Marion Hazel, 87, formerly of Valley, Col. Co., passed away peacefully Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013 at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Economy, she was a daughter of the late James and Irma (MacLellan) MacLellan. Marion attended the Provincial Normal College where she became a school teacher and taught in various places in Nova Scotia. She later returned to the Weston Business College where she studied to become a bookkeeper and managed the offices of several businesses. She was an avid lover of fiddle music and was also an honorary member of the Canadian Olde Tyme Square Dance Callers Association. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
She is survived by a niece, Margaret McLellan-Hart; nephews Robert MacLellan, Stephen MacLellan, John Leask; sister-in-law Audrey MacLellan.
She was predeceased by her husband James Brown Leask; son Kenneth; brothers, Walter, Kenneth, Max.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall - Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Visitation will take place on Monday, Sept. 9th from 2:00 pm until funeral service time at 3:00 pm in the Economy United Church, Economy. Rev. Florence Antle-Brison will officiate with burial to follow in the Economy Cemetery. A reception will follow the burial in the Economy Recreation Centre, Economy. Donations in memory may be made to the Economy United Church, Economy or to a charity of choice.
