The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by his family at the Prince County Hospital, Summerside, on Sunday, September 7, 2008, of Alban Joseph Gallant of Summerside, age 85 years. Veteran of the Second World War. Alban was born in Summerside on October 2, 1922, to his late parents Andrew and Josephine Gallant. Beloved husband of Uneeda (nee Arsenault) Gallant and loving father of Betty Doucette of Charlottetown, Ron of Toronto, Ont., David (Cindy) of St. Nicholas, and Stephen of Summerside. Also lovingly remembered by his 10 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Alban was predeceased by his sisters, Evelyn (Cyrus) Arsenault, Bertha (James) Luce and brothers, Leonard and Francis and by his son-in-law, Alan Doucette. Resting at the East Prince Funeral Home, 245 Pope Rd., Summerside, until Wednesday, September 10, 2008, for funeral mass at St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, at 10:30 a.m. Interment to take place in the church cemetery. Visiting hours on Tuesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Comrades of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch #5, Summerside, will hold a service of remembrance at the funeral home on Tuesday evening at 6:45 p.m. for their late comrade.
