Randall George Scott Mathias was born January 25, 1957 in Fort St. John, British Columbia. He was the second of four children born to Mac and Nancy Mathias.
Randy grew up in Dawson Creek and Hudson Hope. In his youth he was actively involved with many music programs in school, the Dawson Creek Symphonette, and his family’s band. In his teenage years he even played tuba for the A&W Root Bear in the local parade. Music was always an important part of his life.
Randy and his family lived in Ontario for a number of years and then returned to BC and Alberta. He enjoyed building furniture out of old reclaimed barn-boards. For many years he helped local youth learn to use their skills to turn old lumber into special pieces of woodwork.
Randy passed away at 56 years of age and will be sadly missed by his family and friends. A social gathering was well attended on Friday, July 19, 2013 in the Bergeron Social Room, with many speaking fondly of the man they knew.
