Glancy, Michael Hubert “Mike”, B.Sc. M.A., age 81, of Falmouth, Hants County, passed away on Wednesday, September 18, 2013, in the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor. Born on September 4, 1932, in London, England, he was the son of the late Hubert and Helen (Rich) Glancy. Mike was educated in England and at Dalhousie and Saint Mary’s University. A school teacher, he taught at Digby Regional and Windsor Regional High School’s. Mike enjoyed teaching and spent some of his happiest hours in his lab at Windsor Regional. He enjoyed golf, curling and the people he met at these sports. Mike loved to travel with his wife, Evelyn and actually enjoyed the drive to Florida and back. When Ev died in July 2009, life lost its meaning. Mike would like to thank his friends, Bruce & Annette Wiseman, Graham & Reta Zwicker, Gary & Susan Nelson for their support during his battle with cancer and also special thanks to Marilyn & Doug MacLean who looked after him through his chemo sessions. Surviving are step-daughter, Marilyn (Doug) MacLean, Dartmouth and their children, Tina (Todd) Egan and their children, Kyle, and Andrew Egan; Paul MacLean (Nancy) and his children, Shynel Fowler and Mason Keddy; Jamie MacLean; step-son, William (Susan) Patterson, St. Andrew’s, NB, and their children, Alisa Lombard-Patterson, Julie Grant and Ory Patterson; step-son, John (Shelley) Egan, Waterville, Kings Co. and their children, Alisha and Jessica Egan ; step-grandchildren, Lynn (Marcel) Beaulne, Phillip (Eden) Comeau, Debra Comeau; step-great grandchildren, Angele and Gabrielle Beaulne; step-son-in-law, Raymond Comeau, Saint John, NB; sister, Rita Charlesworth, Newport Beach, California; niece, Alexandra Charlesworth, Nice, France. Predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Joyce Glancy (2009); step-daughter, Lorraine Comeau; sister, Joan Sanders. There was no visitation by request. Memorial service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2013 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel, 194 King Street, Windsor. The Rev. Garnet Parker officiated, followed by interment in the Centre Falmouth Cemetery, Town Road, Falmouth. A reception was held at the Lindsay Family Reception Centre, 184 King Street. Donations in memory of Mike, were requested to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Nova Scotia Lung Association or The Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
