Chown, Lena Ellen (nee Harrison), “Gram”, 84, of Parkindale, passed away at the Moncton City Hospital on September 18, 2013. Born in Forest Hill, she was a daughter of the late Ernest and Ada Harrison. Lena was a member of the Prosser Brook United Baptist Church. She was also a lifetime member of the Parkindale Woman’s Institute, the Sewing Circle and a member of the Parkindale Hall Committee. Lena is survived by her children: Sheila LeBlanc, Laurie Chown, Philip (Lesley) Chown, Girvan Chown, Freda Chown and Edward (Bevin) Chown; her sisters: Muriel Humphrey (Harold), Greta Harrison and Thelma Rogers (Eldon); 15 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides her parents, Lena was predeceased by her husband, Donald Chown; her children; Mark, Geraldine and Gordon; and her brothers; Frank, Ennis, Arnold and Von.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Armstrong’s Funeral Home, 33 Russell Street, Petitcodiac (506-756-3361). There will be a graveside service held in the Parkindale Cemetery on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at 11:00am with Paul Beaman presiding. All are welcome for a time of fellowship at the Parkindale Hall following the service. Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Parkindale Cemetery would be appreciated by the family.
