It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Bonita (Bonnie) Pearl Mercer on September 28, 2013, at the age of 65 years. Daughter of the late Myrtle and Ronald Chafe, sister of the late Dwight and Chellis Chafe. Leaving to mourn her husband of 44 years and the “love of her life,” Art Mercer; sons: Dave (Lisa), Paul (Glenda), Greg (Shelly), Dwight (Shane); daughters: Angela (Tristan), and Melissa - They were the pride of her life. Her special grandson Sebastian, and special granddaughters: April, Jessica, and Sydney; special sisters: Suzette, Frances (David), and Dawn (Ron), and her other sisters Ethel and Rose; special brothers: Lance (Joyce), Deano, and Tony (Corrina) and her other brother Allan; her special friend Becky Miller; as well as a very large circle of nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to the doctors of the Cancer Care Clinic, the nurses on 4 South B, and the staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Dr. L. A. Miller Centre for the loving care they gave Bonnie. Visitation to take place at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Monday, September 30, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Memorial service will be held from Barrett’s Funeral Chapel, Mount Pearl, on Tuesday, October 1, 2013, at 2 p.m. As expressions of sympathy, donations in Bonnie’s memory may be made to the Dr. H.
