Elizabeth Anthony

Anthony, Elizabeth C. (Blane) - 95, died peacefully on Thursday, September 26, 2013 in the Cumberland Regional Health Care Center, Upper Nappan. She was born and raised in Montreal but visited Nova Scotia every summer - to Parrsboro, Cumberland County where her father, Charles Reuben Dyas was raised, and Karsdale, Annapolis County where her mother Caroline (Bogart) Dyas had been born and raised. She graduated from McGill University in 1944 and began a teaching career with the Protestant School Board of Montreal. She married Len Blane in 1946 and raised two daughters. She retired in 1974 and began travelling every winter after losing her husband to cancer. She spent her winters in England and France, and summers at the family homestead, where she was happy. In 1987, she married Paul Anthony, O.B.E., an Englishman she had met in Menton, France. They had eight happy years together. Elizabeth only stopped travelling at the age of 90. She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Charles and Fred Dyas; a stepbrother, Les Kirkpatrick, and a stepsister Sylvia Sinn. She is survived by two daughters, Caroline Blane, M.D. (Andrew Vine, M.D.), Ann Arbor, Michigan and Chatain, France; and Janet MacLaren (Tom), Parrsboro; four grandsons, Adrian Vine (Jackie), Ann Arbor, Michigan; Thomas MacLaren (Nina), Amherst; Ben MacLaren, Edmonton; Peter MacLaren, Halifax; along with many Bogart, Dyas and Blane family. She lived a full and rich life travelling the world and following her passions. A private family service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the Parrsboro Golf Club (P.O. Box 430, Parrsboro, NS, B0M 1S0), where four generations have had many happy times together. Arrangements entrusted to Smith’s Funeral Home, Parrsboro.
