Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Tuesday, September 16, 2008, of Susan McGuirk (nee Duffy) of Lake Verde, age 78 years. Beloved wife of the late Gerald McGuirk and loving mother of Fred (Sharon), Pearl Bourque (Mike), Joseph (Mary-Beth), Jerry (Darlene), Bernadette (Bentley Dumville), Norman (Susan) and Richard (Charlotte). Susan is also survived by her grandchildren, Jacob and Ceci Bourque and Kristopher, Cody, Miranda, Kyle, Emily, Nolan, Mikayla, Isaac, Colin, Kaleigh, Bethany and James McGuirk; sisters, Mary Shea (Joe - deceased), Reta Duffy, Marguerite Quilty (Billy-deceased); brothers, Joe and Jack (Inez) Duffy; and sisters-in-law, Viola and Lillian Duffy. She was predeceased by her parents, Frederick and Minnie (nee Smith) Duffy and her brothers, Jim and Charlie Duffy. Resting at Hillsboro Funeral Home, 2 Hollis Ave., Stratford, for visitation on Thursday, September 18, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 19, at St. Joachim’s Church, Vernon River, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in the family plot at the church cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, memorial donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Kidney Foundation would be appreciated.
