Gary Mingo

NEW GLASGOW – Truman “Gary” Mingo, 69, New Glasgow, NS, passed away October 6, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born February 7, 1944 in Summerside, PEI where his father was stationed at the Royal Canadian Air Force Base. His family moved to Tatamagouche, NS in 1945. He went on to graduate from Acadia University in 1965 and earned his Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering Degree from TUNS in 1967. He was employed at Trenton Works for 36.5 years in various managerial positions. In 2009, He was registered as a Life Member of the Association of Professional Engineers of Nova Scotia. Gary was community minded and was very involved in the Scouting Movement, United Way and served on the Dragon Boat Committee for 12 years. He was a faithful member of First Presbyterian Church, Pictou where he was an Elder, served on the Board of Managers, Session, and was the chairman of Living Legacy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Beverly (nee Reid), his adoring children Heidi (Phil Spurr), New Glasgow and Trevor (Lisa), Oakville, ON and his pride and joy, his grandchildren: Madison, Tanner and Grace. He is also survived by his brother Grant (Beverley), Tatamagouche and extended family Roger and Mel Swarbrick and Mike and Usha Sood.
He was predeceased by his parents, Murray Douglas and Jennie Belle (nee McCully).
A celebration of his life will take place 11 a.m., October 10, 2013 at First Presbyterian Church, Pictou, NS with the Rev. Iona MacLean officiating. No visitation by request of the family.
Family flowers only. Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Diabetic Association, Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or Living Legacy through First Presbyterian Church, Pictou.
