FRASER’S MOUNTAIN – Joyce Lynn Rogers, age 65, of Fraser’s Mountain, died peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Gordon and Katherine (Grant) Stewart.
She was a L.P.N. for 25 years at Valley View Villa. She was a member of Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church and the C.W.L. She was a volunteer for 25 years with the Pictou County Help Line, former area captain with the Heart and Stroke Foundation, volunteer with the Shepherd’s Lunch Room, member of the Cursillo Group and the Pictou County Ostomy Association Support Group.
She is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Robert; son, Brian; sister, Nancy; brothers, Gordon (Diane); Alan (Theresa); three nieces: Paige, Kim and Rebecca; sister-in-law, Lois MacKinnon; extended family, Murray and Barb Biggar.
Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the R.H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral mass 11 a.m. Friday in Saint John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church with Father Gary MacPherson officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Pictou County Help Line, Aberdeen Palliative Care Society or the Maritime Connective Tissue Clinic, C/O The Maritime Heart Center.
