The family of John James "Jim" Hogg, age 89 years, is sad to announce his passing on Thursday, October 10, 2013, in Lyon’s Brook, Pictou County, at his family home where he was born and lived his whole life. He lived his life with love, courage, and dignity, and will be forever cherished in the hearts of his family and friends. Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Dorothy (MacDonald); son, John (Donna), Edmonton, AB; daughters, June (Ron) MacCarthy, Caribou Island; Ann Stulac, Lyon's Brook; four granddaughters, Kimberly, Krista, Kelli-Anne, and Jamie; three step-grandchildren, Diane, Tom, and Gordie; sister-in-law, Lois MacLean, nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, John and Bessie (MacLellan) Hogg; brother, Harry; sister-in-law, Donalda; brother-in-law, Earl MacLean; and son-in-law, Ivan Stulac. Prior to his retirement, Jim worked forty years with the Department of Transportation, finishing his career as Supervisor at DOT in New Glasgow. He and Dorothy enjoyed many years of travelling and camping, but even more so, treasured their time at home with family. Visitation will be held 2-4, 7-9 pm, Monday in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral service will take place 2:00 PM Tuesday from West River Presbyterian Church, Durham, with Rev Barb Fotheringham officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the West River Presbyterian Church, Durham, the Aberdeen Palliative Care Society, or a charity of your choice.
