It is with great sadness that the family of the late John Roy Hackett announce his passing at Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Friday, October 11, 2013 at the age of 81 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and precious memories children: Glenda (Bill Wayson), Elaine (Darren Hayward), Colleen (Vince Barnes), Marlene (Jerry Fewer), Darryl, Donna (Craig Snow), Lynn (Allan Kendall); special niece Helen McCarthy (Ron Jesseau); grandchildren: Beverly Wayson (Adam Baker), Scott Wayson (Kim Gallant), Mark and Jennifer Hayward, Richard Barnes, Jonathon Fewer (Natasha Fewer), Stephen and Carter Snow, Catherine and Erin Kendall and Christopher McCarthy; great granddaughter Leah Baker; brothers and sisters in law: Edna Dwyer (Roger), Joe Pennell (Margie), Jimmy Pennell (Tanya), Elizabeth Hynes, Marie Pennell and special friend Bernice White, as well as a large circle of other relatives and friends. He was predeceased by wife Catherine; parents Azariah and Margaret and sister Mary. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place from Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in Benoit’s Cove on Tuesday, October 15, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Father Maurice O’Quinn officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, flowers are graciously accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
