William "Bill" Acorn
ACORN, WILLIAM WELLINGTON “BILL” - At the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by his loving family, William W. Acorn passed away peacefully on October 14, 2013. Born in Glen William, PE., he was the son of the late Leslie and Mildred Acorn and life-long partner and forever friend to Marlene McHugh. Bill worked at the Dry Dock for 38 years in the Maintenance Dept. and Welding Shop until the closure in 2003. He had many interests including fishing, stock car racing and the Ottawa Senators. He loved a good game of “Auction” and there wasn’t a tire on a car, in a car lot in Saint John that Bill didn’t “Kick” on Sunday afternoon drives with his family. His family will remember him for his wonderful sense of humor and the tremendous love that he had for them. Bill is survived by his “Brown eyed Girls”, daughters Pauline McHugh-Williams (Barry), Janet Acorn and Christine McHugh and their mother Marlene; brothers Amon (Marion) and Sam (Ruby); sisters Margie Nantau and Chris Roper (Ian); grandchildren Jessica, Nathaniel, Tristan and Ethan; great grandchildren Mattea and Madelyn; his best buddies Francis O’Connor, Peter Carter, David McCormick, Lloyd Bruce and Charlie Murchison, as well as, many nieces, nephews and additional extended family members. In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by brothers Vernon and Jimmy, sister Mary and his son David.
Arrangements under the care and direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424). Visitation on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held at Fundy Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 1 pm. In keeping with Bill’s wishes, cremation will take place following the funeral with interment at a later date in PEI.
