Bessie May Ellison
ELLISON, Bessie May – 94, Truro, passed away peacefully, Tuesday evening, October 15, 2013, in Willow Lodge Home for Special Care, Tatamagouche, where she had been a resident for the last few years. Born May 13, 1919, in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Everett and Catherine (McLeod) Blair. Bessie was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, McClures Mills. A true family woman, she was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and sister and absolutely loved time spent at the cottage in Bass River. Bessie is survived by her children, Catherine Blois (Merle Smith), Truro; David (Doris) Ellison, Portapique; Richard Ellison, Bible Hill; step-children, Jean (Woody) Hooper, Ottawa; Heber Ellison, Valley; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; brother, Chester (Joan) Blair, North River; several nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Victor Roy Ellison; step-daughter, Mildred Ellison; sister, Pearl-Lee (Carl) Matthews; brothers, Ralph (Evelyn) Blair, James (Avis) Blair. Honouring Bessie’s wishes, a private family interment has been held in Watson Cemetery, Pastor Jacquie Ross officiated. If so desired, donations in Bessie’s memory to Canadian Cancer Society or MS Society are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
