It is with great sadness that the family of the late Sylvia Beck announce her passing at the Western Memorial Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at the age of 74 years. She leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories her husband Robert; children: Susan (Jamie Payne) and Glenn (Kim Lapierre); grandchildren: Mandy, Shane (Claire), Christopher; daughter-in-law Carol Thorne-Beck; and grandson Joshua; great-grandchild Mckenzie; sisters Vera Earle, Hilda Knee and Bride (Frank Janes); brother Ralph Read (Shirley); sister and brother-in-law Evelyn and Cec Miles; sister-in-law Francis Beck; special friend Elsie Moores Smith and son Todd; as well as a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Bronson and Madeline Howell and Gordon and Bessie Read, sister Beulah and brothers Aubrey and Charlie. Cremation has taken place at Sylvia’s request. Friends may visit Fillatre’s Funeral Home, 4 St. Mark’s Avenue on Tuesday from the hours of 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 23 at 2:00 p.m. from Fillatre’s Funeral Home Chapel, St. Mark’s Avenue with Captains Stephen and Erika White officiating. As expressions of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the SPCA or The Salvation Army.
