O’Neill, Owen Oliver 90, Hilden, passed away Friday, October 25, 2013 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with his son at his side. Born in Admirals Cove, Newfoundland, he was a son of the late James and Sarah (McDonald) O’Neill. Owen was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church, Truro. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend to many and will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by his second wife the former Julia Mary McHugh ; sons Neil (Lucille) of Medicine Hat, AB, Art (Donna) of Annapolis Royal; daughters Mary Dunne (James) of Ottawa, ON, Joanne (Joanan) of Moncton, NB; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; sister Mary Trainer of Ontario; several nieces and nephews.
Owen was predeceased by his first wife the former Elizabeth (MacDonald) O’Neill; son Owen; brothers Tom and Chris.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro from where visitation will take place on Tuesday from 2-4 and from 7-9 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday at 2:30 pm in the Immaculate Conception Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro. Father Dariusz Miskowicz will officiate with a reception will follow in Campbell Hall. Burial will follow in the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Truro. Donations in Owen’s memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
