Melvin 'Himmie' McInnis passed away peacefully with his loving family at his side.
Born in Glace Bay, he was the son of the late William and Phyllis (Bond) McInnis.
He worked in numbers 20 and 26 collieries and served as a peacekeeper in Korea (QOR). He was also a lifetime member of the Glace Bay Seniors and Pensioners Club. He loved spending time with his daughter, Neila, who was always there to care for him.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth (Goog) McInnis and granddaughter, Sami Jo.
He is survived by his daughter, Neila (Kenny), Glace Bay; son, Michael, Havre Boucher; loving grandchildren, who adored Poppy Mel, Kendra, Curtis, Jeremy of Glace Bay; grandsons, Chad and Michael of Alberta; great-grandson, Evan.
There will be no visitation by Melvin’s request. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A graveside service will be held on Monday, Nov. 4, at 2 p.m. in Greenwood Cemetery.
