Stanley Bransfield

BRANSFIELD, STANLEY - It is with great sadness that the family of Stanley “Stan” William Bransfield, 77, of Escuminac, NB, and formerly of Petitcodiac, NB, announce his passing after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Born in Escuminac on July 29, 1936, he was a son to the late Walter and Anne (nee Preston) Bransfield. Stan graduated from St. Thomas High School in Chatham, NB in 1955 before he began his 53 year career in retail with Stedmans. Beginning with Stedmans in Chatham, he was later transferred to Toronto where he worked for Stedmans Head Office. In 1970, he and his wife Marion relocated to Petitcodiac to open their own store on Main Street. This was the first of many stores for Stan, Marion and their family, and they were very fortunate to meet many wonderful people and make special friends on their journeys. In recent years, after retiring to his families homestead in Escuminac with Marion, Stan enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing in the Miramichi and Big Lake ME with family and friends, and enjoyed being able to share the bounty from his many gardens and blueberry fields. He had many fond memories of his curling years with friends, and their special trips to Belfast, ME. Stan also enjoyed all of the special moments spent making memories with his grandchildren. Stan was an active member of the Petitcodiac Community; being a 40 year member of the Kiwanis Club, actively involved in minor hockey during his children’s younger years, a member of St. Judes Catholic Church Parish Council as well as supporting many other community initiatives. Stan is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Marion (nee Dickson) Bransfield of Escuminac; his sons: Bart (Kathleen) of Moncton, Barry (Angela) of Fall River, NS and Andy (Wendy) of Moncton; his daughter, Marjorie (Hal) McGibbon of Petitcodiac; his grandchildren: Leslie (Blake ) Arsenault, Alison Bransfield (Andrew), John Bransfield, Sarah and Rebecca Moore and Mila McGibbon; his sisters: Eleanor Levesque and Winnie (Terry) Wall; sister-in-law, Clara Bransfield, as well as many special nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Besides his parents, Stan was pre-deceased by his brother Hazen, his sister Marjorie, four other siblings in infancy and his brother-in-law Paul Levesque.
