
Sister Alice Vickers
VICKERS, SISTER ALICE ANNE, SCIC - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception for Sister Alice Anne Vickers, SCIC. The Mass was celebrated by the Most Rev. J. Edward Troy, and con-celebrated by the Most Rev. Robert Harris, Rev. Douglas McNeill, Rev. Kevin Barry, Rev. Leon Creamer, Rev. John Keoughan, Rev. Donald Breen, Msgr. Brian Sheehan, Rev. Paul LeBlanc, Rev. Dr. Brian Hansen, Rev. Michael Toner, CSC, Rev. David Fulton, Rev. John Tracy, CSC, and Rev. William Weiss. The readings were proclaimed by Joseph Meahan and Sister Charlotte Vickers, SCIC. Sister Monica Plante, SCIC led the Prayers of the Faithful, and Rev. Leon Creamer delivered the homily. The music was provided by the Sisters of Charity. The active pallbearers were Sister’s nieces and nephews: Keith Vickers, Albert Vickers, James Vickers, Paul Vickers, Carol Ann Hilchey, Alexander Hilchey, Dennis Abud, Philip Meahan, and Adam Connolly. Sister’s relatives and friends attended from San Jose, California, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Dalhousie, Bathurst, Moncton, Fredericton, Miramichi, Nova Scotia, and Prince Edward Island.
The family received many floral and spiritual tributes. Remembrances were made to the Villa Madonna Retreat House, the Dr. David Stephen Memorial Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, Bobby’s Hospice, Birthright, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Cathedral Fund, Romero House, Sophia Recovery House, the Hampton Food Basket, Holy Trinity Church Building Fund, the Scarboro Mission, PFLAG Canada, St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation, Rocmaura Foundation, the Rory Reardon Memorial Scholarship Fund, and L’Arche Saint John. Interment took place in the Sisters of Charity Plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, with committal prayers by Father McNeill. Arrangements were under the care and direction of Fitzpatrick’s Funeral Home, 100 Waterloo Street, Saint John.
