RHYS, Audrey Rosena (Crawford), Age 83
It is with sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, following a short illness, at the Aberdeen Hospital in New Glasgow, NS on November 9, 2013. Born in Ship Harbour, NS on June 27, 1930, she was the daughter of Aubrey Merlin Crawford, who passed away when Audrey was three, and the late Carrie Etta (Newcombe) and Ross Keating, both of whom passed in the fall of 2001.

Audrey ventured from Ship Harbour to the City of Halifax for work, at the young age of 15, where she met and subsequently married her husband, Tony, in 1950. She was blessed with three children, who she cherished. In 1993, Tony and Audrey moved to New Glasgow, NS, following which her husband of 51 years passed away in 2001.

Throughout the years, Mom enjoyed card games, baking and preparing meals for everyone who crossed her threshold. Recently, she maintained her sharp mind completing puzzle books and participating in TV game shows such as Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy.

She is survived by two sons, Aubrey (Bonnie), Osoyoss, BC; Kenneth (Sheila), Dartmouth; daughter, Carol (Gordon) Campbell, New Glasgow; grandsons, Michael, Adam, Bryan; granddaughters, Kimberlea, Melissa, Amanda, Allyson, Kelly and Audra, as well as eight great grandchildren, her brothers, Merlin (Audrey) Crawford of Bedford, Ross Jr. (Renie) Keating of Rockland, ON, Myles (Patsy) Keating of Dartmouth, Forbes (Marlene) Keating of Eastern Passage and sisters, Iris Champion, Heather Keating and Frances (George) Lambert, all of Ship Harbour, along with sister-in-law Maxine Keating of Sackville, NS.

Besides her parents and her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Austin Keating; infant sisters, Elva, Ina, Margaret and Linda, as well as brother-in-law, Carl Champion.

Sincere thanks to the staff of the Intensive Care and Palliative Care units at the Aberdeen Hospital. Cremation has taken place. Internment in the presence of her loving family will be held at the Abercrombie Cemetery at a later date under the direction of H. W. Angus Funeral Home in New Glasgow. Forever loved and in our memories daily. Donations in her memory may be made to the Canadian Lung Association or a charity of one's choice.
