PAYNE, AUDREY PHYLLIS (nee McGAGHEY) - With her family at her side, the death of Audrey Payne occurred at the Saint John Regional Hospital on Sunday, November 10, 2013. She was born on February 6, 1928 in Cumberland Bay, Queens Co. NB to the late Burfield and Esther (Shaw) McGaghey. Audrey worked for many years in Saint John as a nurse's aide. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother; devoting her life to her family. Audrey is survived by her sons: Douglas Barton (Kathy) and George Payne (Victoria) of Saint John; daughter, Beatrice Branscombe (Milton) of Cumberland Bay; grandchildren: Joseph (Donna), Esther and Peter (Karla) Branscombe, Sarah Paget (Noah), Douglas (Tara) and Scott (Christa) Barton, and Sean Payne; seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; first husband, Joseph Barton; second husband, George Payne; son, Ricky Barton; brothers: Pearly, Leslie, and Stanley McGaghey and sisters: Beatrice Barton and Rose McGaghey. The family wishes to thank the Nurses and Doctors of NB Extra Mural and Palliative Care Unit of Horizon Health Saint John for their care and compassion.
Resting at Brenan's Funeral Home, 111 Paradise Row, Saint John (634-7424) with visiting on Thursday, November 14 from 2 to 4 and 7 to -9 pm. The Funeral Service will be held in Cumberland Bay Baptist Cemetery on Friday, November 15, 2013 at 1:00 pm.
