Richard Alexander Sullivan

SULLIVAN, Richard Alexander “Dick” – 80, Truro, passed away peacefully, Sunday evening, November 24, 2013, at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro. Born May 28, 1933, in Montreal, Quebec, he was the son of the late Patrick and Nora (O’Callahan) Sullivan. Dick was a member of Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and he was a life-time member of Truro Lions Club, where he had served as President. Dick truly lived The Lions Club motto, “We Serve”, as his love of community and volunteering was evident as he served on CNIB Advisory Board for 25 years, VON Board for 10 years and coached blind bowlers for over 30 years. He was a sales representative with Coke, Pepsi and Weston Foods until his retirement in 1993. Dick is survived by his wife of 53 years, Patricia Mary “Pat” (Murphy); children, Cathy Sullivan (Jean-Pierre Villeneuve), Marathon, Ontario; David Sullivan (Sonia Argenio) Ocala, Florida; grandchildren, Patrick, Valerie, Nadine; great grandchildren, Kayden, Ryellin. Special thanks are extended to Dr. Neil Bower, VON and the nursing staff of Medical Unit, D Wing, Colchester East Hants Health Centre. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Friday, November 29, 2013, in Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, 669 Prince Street, Truro. Reception will follow in Campbell Hall. Family flowers only. If so desired, donations in Dick’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society are welcomed. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall – Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
