MERIGOMISH – Patsy Lee (MacDonald) Smith, 55, Merigomish, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 26, 2013 in the VG Site, QEII, Halifax, surrounded by her family and friends.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Ellsworth and Mae (MacLaren) MacDonald.
Patsy was a member of St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church, Merigomish. She enjoyed gardening, listening to music and watching Coronation Street. Patsy was a very social person, who enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially her little “angels”, Brooklyn and Tessa. Patsy leaves a rich legacy of “morals and values” which she instilled in her children.
Surviving are her partner and best friend of 31 years, Charles Tattrie; daughters, Amy Tattrie (Christian Smith), Merigomish; Ambrosia MacDonald (Stephen Lee), Edmonton, Alta.; son, Leon Smith, Edmonton; granddaughters, Brooklyn and Tessa Smith; siblings: Wayne (Charlotte) MacDonald, Woodburn; Louie (Dorothy) MacDonald, Egerton; Roy (Darlene) MacDonald, Merigomish; Shelia MacLellan, Abercrombie; Vera (Chuck) Roberts and Blake (Terri) MacDonald, Egerton; Willena MacDonald (Hugh Cameron), Pleasant Valley; Glen (Lori) MacDonald, Egerton; brother-in-law, Jim Moriarty, Stellarton; Dale Hill, The Ponds; numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Brenda Moriarty and Doreen Hill; nephew, Winston; best friend, Irene MacGillivray.
The family will receive visitors 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday in P. & K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in St. Paul’s Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bonnie Wynn officiating. Interment will be in Murray’s Point Cemetery.
Donations may be made in Patsy’s memory to Merigomish Area Recreation & Social Association.
