McLELLAN, MELBOURNE WELSLEY - It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Melbourne Welsley McLellan which occurred at Ridgewood Veteran’s Wing on Friday, November 29th 2013. Born 1917, in Campobello, N.B., he was the son of the late Louise and Medley McLellan. He was a WWII Veteran and served in the Royal Canadian Army with the New Brunswick Rangers in Europe during WWII and returned home after being wounded in Holland. Melbourne worked for Scott Brothers as a carpenter retiring in 1977. He enjoyed making wooden boats and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion. Melbourne will be greatly missed by his daughters Elizabeth Tait (Gerald) of Saint John, Mary Small (Douglas) of Hampton, NB. Alice McLellan (Rose Extell) of Saint John; grandchildren Christopher (Pamela) and Jason (Lindsay) nieces, nephews and friends. Besides his parents, Melbourne was predeceased by his loving and devoted wife Blanch McLellan in 1982.
Arrangements are under the direction of Fundy Funeral Home, 230 Westmorland Road (646-2424) with visitation on Monday, December 2nd from 7 to 9 p.m. A Veterans’ Tribute will begin at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening. Memorial service will be held on Tuesday, December 3rd from the Fundy Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. Private family interment to take place on Campobello Island at a later date.
