It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our wonderful, caring husband, father, and grandfather Gordon Anthony Mancini on Nov. 30, 2013, at the North Side Community Guest Home, North Sydney.
Born in North Sydney, he was the son of the late Antonio and Margaret (Boutilier) Mancini.
Gordon loved all types of sports, but was an avid bowler, who also greatly enjoyed a good game of tarabish.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cecilia Dorothy (O’Neill) Mancini, Sydney; his daughters, Pamela (Glenn) Langille, Sydney, Laurie Mancini, Grimsby, Ont.; son, Anthony (Nancy Steylen), Beaumont, Alta.; sisters, Lorraine (Norm), Theresa. Gordon is also survived by his grandchildren, Nicole, Marc, Myles, Warren and Kiana. He is also survived by two aunts, Evelina and Gemma; sisters-in-law Rose, Anne, Coleen, Marilyn, Germaine and Kay; brothers-in-law, Rod, Glenn, Ike, Don and David and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Gordon was predeceased by a son, David Joseph Mancini, brother, John Charles, brothers-in-law, Bill O'Neill and Arnold Alexander, also sister-in-law, Marguerite (Jimmie) Lahey.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the nursing staff of Northside Guest Homr and Dr. Peter Poulos for their outstanding care and compassion for our husband, and father.
Visitation for Gordon will be held at the S.W. Chant & Funeral Home. 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, on Wednesday, Dec. 4, 2013, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with funeral service in the funeral home chapel, on Thursday Dec. 5, 2013, at 2 p.m. with Fr. Patrick O’Neill officiating. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Immaculate Conception Parish Cemetery, Main-a-Dieu.
Memorial fonations may be made to Loaves and Fishes, the Children’s Wish Foundation or to a charity of one's choice. Family flowers only.
