The death occurred peacefully and surrounded by her family on Monday, October 6, 2008, at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital of Betty Douglas, age 88 years young. Beloved mother of Joan (Pat Desmarais), Len, David (Marie), Judy (Garry O’Brien), Jamie, Lester and Jane (Lloyd O’Brien), and daughter-in-law, Anita Douglas and friend and long-time caregiver Kim Gaudet. Very special grandmother to 29 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. Predeceased by her husband, Coffin Douglas; her son, Paul; her infant daughter, Shirley; and her eight brothers and one sister. Remains resting at the North Shore Funeral Home, Morell, on Thursday, October 9, 2008, for visitation from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral will be held Friday, October 10, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the North Shore Funeral Home. Interment will be Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at 10 a.m. at West St. Peters Cemetery. Memorial donations in Betty’s memory may be made to the Children’s Wish Foundation or the West St. Peters Cemetery Fund. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the North Shore Funeral Home, Morell.
