Wing "Tommy" Hum

HUM, WING HEI "TOMMY" - November 16, 1933 - December 8, 2013 - It is with great sadness to announce the death of Tommy Wing Hum, which occurred at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Sunday, December 8, 2013, surrounded by his family. He was predeceased by his wife Yuk Ping Hum and brothers Wing Ning Tam and Bill (Wing Ho) Hum. Tommy is survived and will be greatly missed by his children Tom (Danielle), Acker, Jewett, Melvin and Maya; his sisters Shui Wan Yee, Shui Jen Yee, Shui Hing Yee (Moon), Shui Ling Tang (Kwong), and Shui Lana Chan (Tommy); and many nieces, nephews and friends. Born in Canton, China, Tommy immigrated to Canada in 1950 and owned the popular Peking Fontan restaurant in the York Plaza from 1972 until his retirement in 1997. Prior businesses included involvement in operating the Sun Grill (Regent and King St.) and the Flamingo (Lincoln Rd.) restaurants. Tommy will be sorely missed by the many family members he and Ping sponsored into Canada. Special thanks to the truly compassionate staff of the ICU at DECH.
Friends and family may pay their respects at McAdam's Funeral Home, 160 York St., Fredericton on Thursday, December 12th from 2 to 4 pm, and 7 to 9 pm. A celebration of his life will be held in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Friday, December 13th, at 2 pm. Interment will take place at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date.
