The death occurred peacefully surrounded by his family at Beach Grove Home on Thursday, October 9, 2008, of Allan Blanchard, formerly of Rustico, age 90. Allan was the husband of the late Georgina (nee Martin) and beloved father of Bernadette (Bobby) Nelson, Francis, Edward, Cedric (Kathy), Mary (Peter) Gauthier, Jeanette, and Cathy (John) Morrell; loving grandfather of Allan (Ruth), Mike (Colleen) and Jeff (Bev) Nelson and Peggy (Keir) Doucette; Mandy (Gordon) MacDonald, Alissa (Keir Adams) and Alanna (Jules) Saulnier; Kelsey and Ross Gauthier; Chantel LeBlanc and Ashley and Chase Buote; and Zachary Morrell; and great-grandfather of Callie, Drew, Cameron, Evan, Ella and Hannah. Also survived by his brothers and sisters, Edward (Stella), Reggie (Rita), Cornelius "Dodi' (Theresa), Eleanor (Roland) Ménard, Margaret (Gus) Blacquiere and Lorraine (Amédee) Deveaux; and his sister-in-law, Nancy Blanchard. Besides his wife, Georgina, Allan was predeceased by his parents, Theophilus and Angelina Blanchard; his father and mother-in-law, Henry and Angelina Martin; his sisters, Stella (Ferdie) Peters and Anita (Frank) Gallant; and his brothers, Cyril (Yvonne), Raymond, Richard and Bernie. Resting at Central Queen's Funeral Home, 2538 Glasgow Rd., New Glasgow, for visitation on Friday, October 10, 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine's Roman Catholic Church, Rustico, on Saturday, October 11, at 10 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
