Sanford, Laura May, 55, of Centre Burlington, Hants County, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2013 in the Hants Community Hospital with her family by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 13, 1958 in Wolfville, Kings County. She was a daughter of Douglas and the late Blanche (Myles) Morine. Laura owned and operated her own hair salon known as “Sanford’s Family Hair Styling”. She was very active in her community and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She will be always be remembered for her giving nature and huge heart. Surviving are her husband, Randy; children, Scott and Brittany; brothers, John (Susan) Morine, Hantsport, Alex (Carol) Morine, Hantsport, Earl (Cindy) Morine, Calgary, Alberta; sisters, Jeannette (Rod) Kerr, West Brooklyn, Glenda (Brad) McLellan, Windsor; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother, Blanche; brother, Carl in infancy. Laura’s family would like to extend a thank you to the doctors and nurses at the Hants Community Hospital, especially to Dr. Cathryn Smith and the Palliative Care Team. Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 18, 2013 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home (902-798-2232), 194 King Street, Windsor. Memorial service was held 2 p.m. Thursday, December 19, 2013 in Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Garnet Parker officiated. A private family interment was held in the Card Beach Cemetery, Centre Burlington. Donations in Laura’s memory were requested to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 5826 South Street, Suite 1, Halifax, Nova Scotia B3H 1S6 or the Palliative Care Unit at the Hants Community Hospital, 89 Payzant Drive, Windsor, Nova Scotia B0N 2T0.
