Olive Reid
REID, OLIVE - It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, Olive Jane Reid, on December 14, 2013 at the Orchard View Nursing Home in Gagetown, NB. Born in Camberwell, London, England on August 11th, 1923, she was the wife of the late William Fraser Reid. Olive leaves behind her sons, Russell Reid (Linda) of Lac du Bonnet, MB and Geoffrey Reid (Marcia) of Ottawa, ON; daughter, Lynne Wood (Wayne) of Oromocto, NB; grandchildren, Art (Tanya), John, Angela (Brad) and Matt (Christine); great grandchildren, Gage, Brooklyn, Ava, Parker and Bella; brother, Frank Holman (Sylvia) of Toronto, ON; as well as many nieces, nephews and extended family. In addition to her husband, William, Olive was predeceased by her parents, George and Alice (Chapman) Holman and brothers, Dennis and Laurie Holman. Olive came to Canada in 1946 aboard the Aquitania. Once settled in Brandon, MB, the next 20 years were spent raising her children. Once the kids grew up, Olive returned to the work place as a school secretary in Brandon for the next 25 years before retiring. Olive was a founding member of War Brides of Brandon, MB. She was an avid bridge player and loved her weekly games with her friends. The family would like to send a special thanks to Dr. Vaughan Roxborough and all the wonderful staff at the Orchard View Nursing Home for her wonderful care in the last few years.
A memorial service will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home Chapel, 108 Winnebago St., on Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Canon Walter Williams officiating. Interment will be in Manitoba at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in Olive’s memory can be made to the John Wood Foundation or to a charity of the donor's choice.
