We, the family of the late Alex McCarthy, would like to express our sincere gratitude and appreciation to relatives and friends who have helped support us through this ­difficult time. We would like to thank anyone who sent food, ­sympathy cards, flower arrangements and generous donations in Alex's memory, as well as those donations that were made to both the Benoit's Cove and Lark Harbour/York Harbour Fire Departments. It is greatly appreciated.

Thank you to everyone who came to the funeral home, sent messages and all the support through Facebook; you will never know how much your overwhelming support has helped us through this difficult time. We never realized just how many people knew and loved our Alex.

A special thank you to the ER staff at Western Memorial Regional Hospital and the paramedics for their support. To the staff from Corner Brook Regional High for helping the students during this time. To Beth Williams and Matthew Brace for trying to help Alex at the scene of the accident. Knowing that he had someone there by his side means more to us than you'll ever know.
