MORRISON, Eugene Campbell – with loved ones by his side, he passed away peacefully at Shannex Vimy Court, Bible Hill, at 4:55 a.m., December 15th at the age of 95. Born in Greenfield, Colchester County on July 7, 1918, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Stella (Whidden) Morrison. A veteran of the Second World War, he served in the 4th Lt. Anti-Aircraft Battery, Royal Canadian Artillery, C.A.S.F. from July 29, 1940 – July 1, 1944. He was a well-known autobody repairman, working for several garages in Truro. He later worked as a carpenter for Moffatts Moving and Storage, Truro. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
He is survived by daughters, Lyn (Grant) Brown of Valley; Donna (Duncan) MacMillan of Portuguese Cove; grandsons, Colin (Brooke) Brown; Ethan (Karli) Gourley; Micheal (Rebecca) Brown; great-granddaughters Olivia and Hunter Brown; brother Roy (Natalie) Morrison of Truro Heights and sister Blanche Armstrong of Princeport, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Jean Marion (Rafuse) Morrison; brother, Ron Morrison; sister, Hilda Wynn; and special friend, Ollie Cavanagh.
Arrangements are under the direction of Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. A graveside service for family will be held in the Spring of 2014 at Crossroads Cemetery, Valley at a date and time to be published. A celebration of Eugene’s life will take place on Saturday, January 18th at the home of Grant and Lyn Brown, 16 Blue Jay Place, Valley, NS from 1:00-4:00 p.m.
