Anna Martinello, of Sydney, passed away on Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013 following a brief illness.
Anna was the daughter of the late Ivan and Maria (Klemkovich) Melnyk.
She is survived by and will be deeply missed by her only daughter, Shirley Grinnell and son-in-law, Dale; granddaughter, Renée (Damian) Capozzola and great-grandchildren, Donovan and Dean, all of California.
Anna was predeceased by her husband Louis, six brothers Joseph, Nicholas, Peter, Paul, John and Michael and one sister, Sonia Banfield. She was the last surviving member of her family. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Anna led a very active life and was involved in several charitable organizations. She was past president of St. Rita’s Hospital Auxilary and a member of St. Theresa’s CWL for over 40 years. She was a member of the Lingan Golf & Country Club for many years and also belonged to the Curling Club. Anna was also very active in the Ukrainian Women’s Club and served on their executive board. She was an avid bridge player and enjoyed travelling with her family for many years. In addition, she was a fantastic cook and everyone looked forward to her exceptional meals.
Visitation will take place from 7-9 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 20 at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, Dec. 21 at 11 a.m at Holy Ghost Ukrainian Church with Rev. Roman Dusanowskyj officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
