It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our loving wife, mother and grandmother, Vera Beryl 'B' (Robertson, Andrews) McDonald, 80, resident of Howie Center, N.S., on Friday, Dec. 20, 2013, at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, 'B' was the daughter of the late Max and Abbie (Hendsbee) Robertson.
She was a graduate of Sydney Academy and involved with the altar guild of St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Coxheath. She was a Sunday school teacher, member of the IODE, hospital auxiliary, Sydney River Y’ettes and a captain of Girl Guides. She moved to Lower Sackville, where she obtained her real estate licence and was employed with Pat King Real Estate. Later she accepted a position with CFB Statacona, Halifax.
'B' is survived by her husband, Albert McDonald; daughters, Gail (Kevin) Quinn, Coxheath, Laurel (Duncan) Barkhouse, Lower Sackville; sons, Wayne (Anne) Andrews, Ontario, Craig (Mary Lynn) Andrews, McGarth Lake, Sackville, Brent Andrews, Alberta; stepson, Robert (Shelley) McDonald, Ontario; stepdaughter, Sherry McDonald, Alberta; sister-in-law, Blanche Robertson, Sydney, a number of grandchildren and four step-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother Alan Robertson and a granddaughter Natasha.
Cremation has taken place. At a later date a private family graveside service will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery, Little Bras d’Or.
Memorial donations may be sent to a charity of choice.
The family would like to thank the staff of Harbourstone Enhanced Care, “LeVatte’s Lane”, for the excellent care they provided to our wife and mother, you will always be remembered.
