Passed peacefully away on Saturday, December 21st, 2013 at Callingwood Downs, Clarke's Beach. Violet Eulah Stanley. Predeceased by her loving husband, Arthur W. Stanley (2004) and her son-in-law, RCMP Inspector Charles Stewart (1991). Born July 10th, 1919, to Moses and Edith Hicks of Musgrave Harbour, Violet was also predeceased by her sisters; Dorothy, Pearl, Ruth, Blanche, and Verna, and her brother Clayton. Also predeceased by her sister-in-law Hazel Hicks and her brother-in-law Harry Whiteway. She is survived by her brother Gerald Hicks, sisters Jean Whiteway and Effie (Frank) Osmond. Leaving to celebrate her long and blessed life are her daughter and son-in law Phyllis and Lawrie Duggan, her daughter Gloria Stewart and her partner M. J. (Callum) Croan, and her son and daughter-in-law Art and Holly Stanley. Eight grandchildren; Kelli (David) Stewart, Scott (Lindsay) Duggan, Beth (Todd) Leatherdale, Kim (Jim) Duggan, Wendi-Rae (Stephen) Thornhill, Chris (Anne) Duggan, Lisa (Joey) Smyth, and Ryan (Laura) Stanley. Eleven great grandchildren; Bethany and Matthew Pearce, Kalyn and Jordan Leatherdale, Devon and Abby Thibideau, David, Cate and Mark Duggan, Toren Smyth, and Van Stewart Duggan. Resting at Barrett's Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue, with visitation on Monday, December 23rd, 2013, 2-4PM and 7-9PM. Funeral Service will be held 11AM on Tuesday, December 24th, 2013 at George St. United Church with Reverend Susan White officiating. Interment to follow at Mount Pleasant Cemetery. In our mother's memory flowers are gratefully accepted or donations can be made in her name to George St. United Church. We would like to offer a very special thank you to Clyde and the staff at Moore's Ambulance, to Callingwood Downs for their care, and to Mrs. Hazel Badcock whom befriended our mother with her kindness, and watched over her.
