Peacefully at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on Sunday, October 12, 2008, of Mrs. Vera M. (nee Jenkins) Smith of Charlottetown, in her 85th year. Beloved wife of the late Douglas Barton Smith and dear mother of Fred (Anne), Glen (Nancy Rattray), Penny Moffatt, Wayne (Dail), Dale (Cecil) Hurry, Cindy (John) Thistle, Kerry (Sherri) and daughter-in-law Karen Smith. Vera will also be lovingly remembered by her 18 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; sisters and brothers, Mina Wood, Ontario, Winston Jenkins, Ann McClintick, Lillian MacKinnon, Donna Acorn, Connie (Preston) Wotton, all of Charlottetown; sisters and brothers-in-law, Laura Jenkins, Reg Smith, Clair (Judy) Smith and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving son Shawn; grandson, Dwayne Hurry; daughters-in-law, Sadie Smith, Audrey Smith; sons-in-law, Ray Taylor, Clifford Moffatt; her parents, Henry and Effie (Penny) Jenkins; brother, Jack Jenkins; sister, Gloria Wakelin and her brother-in-law, Charles Wakelin. Resting at the Cutcliffe Funeral Home from where the funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Wednesday morning at 11 a.m. Interment to follow in the family plot in Sherwood Cemetery. If so desired, memorial contributions in Vera’s memory may be made to the Canadian Kidney Foundation or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of P.E.I.
